HELP SRS
"Working Here.....Helping There"

WHY INVEST IN RUSSIA?

*20% of the earth's landmass is within the former Soviet Union
and Russia is the world's 2nd major oil exporter behind Saudi
Arabia.

* In Russia's 1000 year history there has never been a
nation-wide network of solid Biblical churches.

* Russian speaking ministers of the Gospel can preach the
Gospel to 250 million people of the former Soviet Union.

* Many of our contacts are in the only Islamic republics that
allow evangelism.
  SLAVIC REFORMATION
SOCIETY
 ANNUAL FUND
The primary needs of the St. Petersburg Mission fall in the categories of

a)        student support
b)        translation and publishing
c)        infrastructure

Student Support:

Each or our student gets a small stipend to attend the seminary to allow them to be able to support their families while in full
time study.   We have found this to be the most effective way to properly prepare these men to lead their congregations in a
knowledgeable and Godly manner.   It costs, on average, $700/ month for each student.   At present we have the
opportunity to add 3 more students in the fall of 2008, bringing us to a total of 6 in full time study.

It would be a great blessing if your church or you, as an individual, would “adopt” one of these students.   We would be
pleased to send you background information on them if this would be helpful.

Translation and Publishing:

This is, of course, one of our primary goals at SRS…to translate Reformed Christian literature into Russian.   For some
time, we have wished to be able to translate and publish Doug Wilson’s series of books on the Family.   This is particularly
important for Russians since so many families are not being properly led by a strong father figure.

Also, at the top of our list of priorities in this area are James Jordan’s
“Primeval Saints” and Jeff Meyers’ books, “The
Lord’s Service”
and “A Table in the Mist: Ecclesiastes through New Eyes”, and, finally, Peter Leithart’s book “A Son to
Me”
, a commentary on 1st and 2d Samuel.

All of these works could be translated and published for $12,000 or about $4 US per book.    We can think of nothing that
would have more long term impact than this work.

Infrastructure:

The most pressing immediate need is to replace our aging VW microbus which is, literally, falling apart.   Blake’s recent
prayer letter featured Blake and visiting professors and elders providing the motivating force to move it through the streets
of St. Petersburg.    We estimate a cost of $20-25,000 to provide a suitable replacement.

From a longer term perspective, we continue to believe that it is in the best interests of the Seminary to have a permanent
home in St. Petersburg.  This year we have moved into a new rented facility with our seminary program, the third such move
in the past 24 months.   However, our new “home” on Furschtadskaya Street has been a delight to both students and
faculty; and we have relative stability there since we are leasing from a US owner.   Our fondest hope would be that we
would be able to purchase this property or something like it in the central area of St. Petersburg during the next 2 or 3
years.   This would require an  estimated $250-300,000 of which at least 20% would need to be in cash.   We have the ability
to service the mortgage over 20 years within our existing budget, so the need is for $50-60,000 in a building fund to provide
for the down payment.

A lump sum gift toward our building fund will put us in the position to accomplish such a purchase.
"The need for teachers of the
Scriptures continues today, especially for those in nations where the Gospel has
not been as influential.  It is for this reason Christ Covenant supports the Reformed
Theological Seminary of St. Petersburg and the Slavic Reformation Society (SRS)."

Christ Covenant Presbyterian Church
Lexington, KY
Each year, the Slavic Reformation Society makes an appeal to all our friends, both individuals and churches, asking for
support of our existing ministries throughout Russia and the Far East.  As you know, the society has existed for nearly 20
years, communicating the Gospel of Jesus Christ among Russian speaking peoples through four primary ministries:

 The Biblical Theological Seminary
 The Reformed Evangelical Publishing House
 The Eurasia-Wide Theological Conference
 Church Planting

Reaching this nation with the Good News of the Gospel and establishing churches in the Presbyterian and Reformed
theological tradition is an ambitious goal....Russia, with 141,000,000 souls, is twice the size of the United States of
America.

We desire your participation.  Whether it is $25 or $2,500 a month your gift is important.  Our budget for 2008 is
$370,000 dollars.  Please consider supporting us in this Christ-centered endeavor.  We accept both restricted and
unrestricted (Area of Greatest Need) gifts.

Area of Greatest Need Fund

The undesignated nature of this gift allows the SRS Board to determine where your gift will make the greatest impact.

Family of Funds

In order to better match your personal giving preferences with our needs,  we also offer restricted giving opportunities.  Determine how your gift will support the Society by
investing in the Family of Funds.  These funds represent the various ministries of the Society that are enriched and made possible by annual gifts.

Church Planting

By God's grace reformed churches have been planted by men trained in the Biblical Theological Seminary in St. Petersburg, Pushkin, Tymen, Kavalerova, and Ussurisk.  Also
our Galilee Church operates in a high security prison in the Leningrad region.  An investment of your resources will help provide a salary for each of the pastors of these
churches, aid in the purchase of liturgical supplies, and help subsidize the cost of facility rental for Lord's Day worship.

Thank you for prayerfully considering a gift to the Slavic Reformation Society.  We are most grateful for your support.
